Our Braves insider Grant McAuley joins John and GoForth to talk the latest on the Braves coming off the 5-5 Road Trip and All Star Selections. Grant talked about the record for the Braves road trip and how disappointed fans were the way it ended in Milwaukee. Grant talked about how the starters had short outings and the braves weren’t able to get the ruins on the board. Grant seems to think the Braves will be a contender during the trade deadline. However, they will not be interested in collecting a lot of rental talent at the same time giving away assets they have acquired over the past couple of years. Grant threw out a stat the team who has won the World series has a different closer for the regular season than they do in the post season. Grant mentioned ender being sat down because he wasn’t hustling and making smart baseball moves for Brian Snitker. Grant thinks the Braves will make a couple of deals before the deadline for some proven starters that are under contract and can deep into a game. Grant rattled off names like Chris Archer, Cole Hamels, Danny Duffy and few more that the Braves could be looking at pitching wise. Grant talked about the rumors over the weekend that had the Braves as one of 7 teams interested in many Machado but clarified that the Braves were towards the back of the pack. Grant talked about the 4 Braves going to the MLB All Star game and said he wasn’t surprised that Ozzie Albies didn’t get the nod at second base and reminded everybody that this is a fan driven vote. Grant did mentioned he was surprised that Markakis got the second highest votes for the All Star game. Grant disagreed with John that they should’t have a representative from ever team go to the All Star game.
