As everyone is weighing in on what the Falcons should do in the draft this year, Duane sticks to his guns and says Atlanta needs to focus on the running back position.

“One of the biggest needs and areas of improvement that’s been lackluster in the last three seasons is running back," said Walker. "Devonta Freeman can’t stay healthy and that has hurt the offense.”

The Falcons may potentially release Freeman allowing them to free up $3.5 million in 2020 cap space.

Duane believes the Falcons might be better off moving on and the goal this draft is to “find a running back that is able to come and immediately, immediately make a contribution!”  Something similar to what running back Christian McCaffrey did with the Falcons’ close rivals, the Carolina Panthers.

Today’s NFL game requires running backs not only to be effective runners, but also be able to catch the football out of the backfield. Atlanta needs someone that can do both.

Duane hasn’t picked a specific running back in the draft yet as he feels this year none of them really jump off the page. But it is important that the Falcons find one that fits.
