Atlanta safety Ricardo Allen joined The Midday Show with Rick and John live from Falcons HQ in Flowery Branch.

Allen mentioned how he has to get players lined up on the defense and keep the communication open to keep them all on the same page, which has been a challenge, mentioning Foyesade Oluokun and Damontae Kazee. He told us he studies every position on defense so he is ready for everything but thinks he'll be playing deep and patrolling the field.

They talk about the Greg Olsen injury and Allen thinks that gives them a little more freedom in man-to-man Sunday versus the Carolina Panthers.

They move to the quarterback position and Allen told us there is no key to understanding Cam Newton's tendencies because he is so quick and fast and able to make things happen with both his legs and arm.

Rick wants to know the mood in the locker room with the recent injuries and Allen said they are bummed out, but he says players need to take the opportunity to make their mark on the field and help the team get a win.

Finally, Rico stressed the importance of winning on your home field in front of your fans especially in the division.
