Rick Kamla broke down an incredibly interesting statistic Monday on The Midday Show with Rick and John. It turns out, Sunday's Week 4 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals wasn't the first time an AFC team has come into Mercedes-Benz Stadium and taken a win home.

When Cincinnati beat Atlanta Sunday, 37-36, it was the sixth time in the Dan Quinn era an AFC has won a game on the road in Atlanta's house, whether it was the Georgia Dome of the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Quinn's overall record at home versus the AFC: 1-6.

"We suck against the AFC," said Rick.

The only win since 2015 against an AFC team at home was in 2015 when the Falcons beat Houston, 48-21. Since then, six straight losses,  mostly to sub-par teams:

  • Indianapolis Colts (2015)
  • San Diego Chargers (2016)
  • Kansas City Chiefs (2016)
  • Buffalo Bills (2017)
  • Miami Dolphins (2017)
  • Cincinnati Bengals (2018)

Only the Chiefs and Bills finished their respective seasons with a winning record. The Bengals moved to 3-1 on the season with their Sunday win.

Overall during the Quinn era, however, the Falcons are 6-7 versus the AFC. The means Atlanta has a 5-1 record on the road versus the AFC. Where does Atlanta play in Week 5? They travel to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"Next week's game at Pittsburgh... I like our chances," Rick said.
