Steve Koonin joined Dukes & Bell to talk about our Atlanta Hawks being quiet at the trading deadline, the Super Bowl, plus what’s next for State Farm Arena big event wise.

Koonin talked about John Collins competing in the slam dunk contest in this years NBA All-Star weekend.

“He is working hard in the secret lavatory working on dunks and Trae might be there to give him a little help.” Koonin said “Big men traditionally don’t do well in dunk contest, but I’m willing to give him some help if he needs it.”

Steve talked about trying to get more events at State Farm Arena and more importantly the city of Atlanta.

“I’m meeting with the Atlanta Sports Council on Tuesday, because with an arena there’s a lot of things you can bring, NCAA tournaments etc.” Said Koonin “So we are going to try to pry some things away from New York, and get them to Atlanta.”

When asked about why the team was relatively quiet at the trade deadline.

“The phone was active but one of the things that’s affected the trade market is the buyout market, so some times you have to reestablish your credibility, you have to send messages to the marketplace.” Said Koonin “But we have great chemistry if you watch the way our guys are pulling for each other, we have a really bright future.”
