Atlanta United Color Analyst Jason Longshore joined Dukes and Bell to preview the first leg of the Eastern Conference Finals against NYCFC this Sunday night.

Longshore on the team’s confidence heading into the playoffs, “The team has looked unsure of itself heading into the playoffs.” Longshore said Tata mentioned the word ‘betrayal’ as far as the way the team has gotten away from their identity although the word ‘betrayal’ may have been lost in the translation for Spanish to English.

Longhsore on playing at Yankee Stadium, “Nobody plays well there. Only one team won there this season. The way you try to attack NYC FC is to spread the ball out wide and you can’t do that at Yankee Stadium.” Longshore went on to say that NYC FC develops their attack by maintaining possession.

Longshore on Miguel Almiron’s availability this weekend, “Carlos Bocanegra was on the morning show and talked about limited minutes for Almiron. Greg Garza will most likely start at left back and we will see how many minutes Miggy (Almiron) can play.”

Longshore on experience, “We don’t see teams get to an elite level this quickly. I always think of Michael Jordan’s Bulls and how long it took them to get to the top. This group has been together for two years now and the pressure is on. Miggy isn’t a vocal leader but we need him to step up now.”

Longshore on the key to success in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, “You have to be dangerous going forward to get NYC to commit players back. When teams turn it over, they are ready to attack. You have to find space out wide even though there won’t be much. Because of this Julian Gressel will be essential to victory.”

Longshore went on to say, “Yangel Herrera is the key to NYC FC. He is very crucial to their defense and typically connects the first pass to the offense. The other player to watch out for is the guy who scored first the other day against the Philadelphia Union, Ismael Tajouri-Shradi.

Longshore continued, “You read the quotes in New York and the pressure is on NYC FC. If United can get a draw on Sunday that would be great.”

Longshore went on to talk about the other Eastern Conference match-up between the Columbus Crew and NY Red Bulls.
