Darren Eales joined Dukes and Bell Tuesday for his weekly segment and talked about the Atlanta United loss on Sunday to the New York Red Bulls.

“It’s disappointing," said Eales. "Even a draw would have been enough for the supporters shield, it was definitely an intensity thing, thank goodness it was a regular season game and wasn’t the playoffs.”

Eales continued on the loss to N.Y.

“There will be things we can work on, but if we would have gotten caught like that in the first leg of a playoff series we would be in trouble, we won’t be caught like that again by them,” said the Five Stripes' president.

Eales talked about the game Saturday against the New England Revolution.

“The one thing in our favor is they have to get a win to get in the playoffs, they can’t come in here and play for a draw," said Eales. "When we have teams come to our field and play with an attacking style we’re at our best, and the guys will be fired up and ready to go.”

When asked to update the status on the contract of coach Tata Martino...

“It’s more about you’ve seen in his history he’s never been anywhere more than two years," said Eales. "Everyone knows there is a difference between international soccer and the club game and he has to want to do this for the next X amount of years.”
