Atlanta United technical director Carlos Bocanegra joined Dukes & Bell on Tuesday and talked about the Tata Martino rumors.

“There’s all kinds of rumors, for our team," said Bocanegra. "I guess that means we're relevant in the soccer world. We’re having ongoing discussions, we can’t control the rumor mill and we are looking to make the playoffs with the Supporters' Shield under our belts.”

Bocanegra continued on Tata and told the guys how he has fit in with what the club wants to do.

“Each coach has a unique style," said Bocanegra. "We have a philosophy with a playing style as a club, and Tata fit that nicely. And each coach will put their spin on that, but it’s the club’s philosophy on playing younger players, bringing in these guys was the club, but the coach has to buy into it.”

With a first-round bye already clinched, Bocanegra talked about what the next two games mean for United.

“They mean a lot to us, the supporters shield would be a lot," said Bocanegra. "It would be a huge accomplishment for the club, fan base for everyone, and we need one point to lock ourselves into the CONCACAF, and that would allow us to play against the best.”

Bocanegra gave us an update on the status of Miguel Almiron.

“He’s been doing well," said Bocanegra. "Obviously he got some tightness in his hamstring against New England. He’s week to week, and it’s a wait and see a time frame for him.”
