Atlanta United control their own destiny in the race for the Supporters' Shield, currenly one-point ahead of NY Red Bulls in the standings. Winning the shield means home field advantage in the postseason but the club will need to take care of business starting with Chicago Fire at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Sunday

Club President Darren Eales, who joined John and Hugh on Friday, is not only hoping to finish the season strong but to bring home the team's first trophy.

“It’s important, this first trophy because we're a new club. It’s the Supporters’ Shield; it would have a special resonance. For us, we want to win that trophy and get the #1 seed in the playoffs."

Both Miggy Almiron (hamtring) and Tito Villalba (undisclosed injury) did not train with the team on Thursday, and were instead rehabbing at the facility. But their statuses for Sunday?

"The good thing we know the playoffs are two weeks so we have time to get them back for the playoffs, which is most important," Eales said. The bad news however: "They won't be able to play this weekend...It does give us a little more time to make sure everyone is as rested and healthy as they can be for the playoffs."

And on a side note, after mentioning he kicked a 52-yard field goal a week ago, Eales jokingly said he wasn’t happy that he didn’t get a call from Falcons brass to replace Matt Bryant.
