The Basketball Show, Ep. 019: Disappointed that Hawks missed playoffs?

March 16, 2018 - 3:40 pm

Arthur Triche and Andy Bunker get together each week during the NBA season to talk basketball on "The Basketball Show." Here's what was on the agenda for this week's podcast:

FIRST QUARTER – this week’s NBA news:

  • It’s like we start with the Cavs each week…what has happened to them?  They have lost four of its last six games.
  • It’s obvious they are missing a talent like Kyrie Irving or what he had in Miami in Dwayne Wade or Chris Bosh.  Can they rebound?  Can Kevin Love help right the ship?
  • The Raptors are – for the East – running away with the conference lead.  Are you more confident in them this year as we near postseason?
  • The Spurs have lost 11 of their past 14 games – dropped their most recent one as we tape this show to Houston.  They have made the playoffs in 20 straight seasons and they are – AS OF TAPING – out of postseason play.  Are we looking at the end of that run?

SECOND QUARTER – the latest with the Hawks

  • How disappointing that the Hawks have been eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons?
  • Are you paying any more attention to the Hawks this season?  Or, are you just watching their opponents?

  • ESPN has DeAndre Ayton, Luka Doncic and Jaren Jackson Jr. as their top three picks for this year’s draft.
  • Their next four picks are Marvin Bagley Jr., Mohamed Bamba, Wendell Carter and Michael Porter Jr.
  • Surprised?

FOURTH QUARTER – random musings

  • Is Steve Kerr the NBA’s most “lit” coach?
  • Should Dwayne Wade retire after this season?
