Bunker: Falcons 'get to find out how legit they are Week 1'

The Bunker Mentality

Andy Bunker was the first 92-9 The Game host to have the opportunity to break down the 2018 Atlanta Falcons schedule. The league released its schedule at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday.

First and foremost... don't go picking wins and losses for next year just yet. To say Andy is very much against that is a mild understatement. However you can think about some of the bigger storylines to come from Thursday's announcement:

Can the Falcons do what the Kansas City Chiefs did in 2017 by going into Philadelphia and beating the defending champion Eagles in Week 1 on a Thursday night?

"I like it just for the shere fact that you get you get a really tough test the first week of the season," said Bunker. "You get to find out if everything you did in the offseason in terms of personnel, in terms of trying to develop your offense and get a little more in sync with your offensive coordinator, your draft picks, everything. You get to find out how legit you are Week 1 on the road against the Philadelphia Eagles."

What about playing on Thanksgiving?

"If you're going to have a Thursday night game on the road, let it be against your rival. I'm all about that," said Bunker.

Andy likes the Week 8 bye and reminds everyone that Atlanta's Super Bowl run two years ago came in a season where the bye landed late.

The Falcons need to beat divisional foes early. "You gotta take care of business earlier in the year against NFC South teams," said Bunker since only three of Atlanta's last five games are against NFC South teams.
