It's been three years now. I guess this is a thing...

The Midday Show with Rick Kamla and John Michaels are looking to see what every NFL city thinks about its upcoming first-round draft pick. What better way to find out than to ask someone in the media in that city.

Twice per day, Rick and John will have a visiting media member on the show to mock a player to their respective team and then tell us why they made that decision.

1. Cleveland Browns: Sam Darnold, QB -- USC | Making the pick was Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 the Fan in Cleveland.

Ruiter shot down John's suggestion that the Browns take running back Saquon Barkley with the first pick. He told us the acquisition of Jarvis Landry was the best move by the Browns in the offseason and said getting Tyrod Taylor was a coup for Cleveland and he will give them a better opportunity to win more games.

Even if the Browns draft a quarterback it will essentially be a redshirt season for them with Tyrod Taylor being a bridge QB in the last year of his contract, said Ruiter, who also said he is very excited to see what Myles Garrett can put together this season after being plagued with an injury to start his rookie season.

Ruiter speculated that the Browns will take the best player available by position with the fourth pick by taking Bradley Chubb. Daryl admitted the Browns could move back from the No. 4 pick, but hopes they don’t.

Then, Ruiter gave us his impressions of Jabril Peppers rookie season.

2. New York Giants: Saquon Barkley, RB -- Penn State | Making the pick was Anita Marks from ESPN NY, 98.7 FM.

Marks told us there is absolutely a chance the Giants trade Odell Beckham Jr. before the draft and emphasized that OBJ is not a bad person, but all his off-field antics add up and lead to questions that aren’t football related. She mentioned that it’s tough to talk about OBJ in a negative light because he is such a great player and the fans don’t understand the team’s position.

The was foreshadowed involved when Marks told us that if/when OBJ leaves he will become the player the Giants are trying to make him into now.
The reason the Giants fell so far on defense last year, according to Marks, was because of the amount of injuries they had.

She also brought up the players the Giants got rid of/lost in free agency.

Marks mentioned the fans not having a great deal of faith in Eli Manning last year because he is not an athletic QB, but is very cerebral. She told us that former GM Jerry Reese neglected the offensive line in front of Manning and that’s the main reason they struggled last year.
