Georgia State head coach Ron Hunter joined Dukes & Bell on Tuesday as the team gets set to leave for Louisiana to play conference foe Louisiana Monroe, who they defeated with a buzzer-beater in January.

Coach Hunter talked about the team's win over the weekend against Georgia Southern.

“Great environment down at the arena,” said Hunter. “Our students were ready because we were playing Southern and the best part was getting the win.”

Hunter discussed where he felt his team was entering the latter part of the season.

“I think we are starting to peak right now, playing our best defense. We made a few changes and this is when we wanted to peak, in February and March,” Said Hunter. “This is when we wanted to play our best basketball, and I feel good about where our team is right now.”

When asked about if he likes to play seniors more during this time of the season...

“One of the things I always like to do is let the seniors play at the end; this is it for them, so they will play with an edge,” Hunter said. “There’s nothing like a senior. They know this is the end so they play like they have nothing left to lose and that’s what you want this time of the year.”
