The Atlanta Hawks tip-off tonight in Detroit against the Pistons as Lloyd Pierce begins his second season as head coach.

Pierce joined John Fricke and Hugh Douglas and discusses his excitement and energy level as the season is about to begin.

"I didn't know how I'd feel come gameday, but I'm excited, like a kid on Christmas. I talked to our team yesterday about what the regular season is. It's not like the preseason and our young guys need to know that."

Pierce also previewed tonight's game against the Pistons and why they still will be a tough out even with Blake Griffin sidelined.

"Lots of guys stepped in. It starts with Andre Drummond, how do we keep him off the glass and out of the paint. Derrick Rose was vintage, has his turbo boost back. We have to really be good with our perimeter defense to keep their guards out of the paint and then we have to do a number on Andre Drummond and keep him away from the rim?"
