One thing has become apparent, Donald Trump owns the NFL. Why do I say that? The answer is simple. He wanted a league policy regarding protocol for the National Anthem before NFL games, the owners gave it to him. And now, The Philadelphia Eagles were reported to wanting to bring a small contingent to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl title. Trump wasn't having it.

I've stated my thoughts on the National Anthem protest which you can see here. Our Atlanta Falcons, according to a report this weekend, are mulling strategies on how they will address the national anthem controversy. I won't be surprised to see a response in Week 1. The burning question will be how will they respond and will that response do more harm than good.

As I stated on my show back in May, the protest was hijacked by a lazy narrative from lazy journalists in the political media. Like any smart politician, Donald Trump has taken advantage of it and it's worked. The NFL folded under the pressure of our Commander and Chief and here we are today.

The NFL is concerned about business, and there's nothing wrong with that. However, their tackling of this controversy is another notch in the legacy belt of Roger Goodell, and I don't say that as a good thing.

This issue is not going away, but now we wait to see how players/owners respond and will it do more harm than good. Jets Owner Chris Johnson publicly stated he will stand by the players and pay any fines if any of his players decides to protest. Again, will protesting now only dilute the message that's already been clouded in a false smoky narrative? Donald Trump tried for years to own an NFL Franchise, and the harsh reality is now clear, he owns the entire NFL.
