Before last night's Hall of Fame Game many would have argued that Matt Schaub's job as backup to Matt Ryan was safe, but after one preseason game many people have changed their tune on that.

While Benkert was impressive last night, throwing for 185 and a touchdown before leaving the game with an injury, Matt Schaub had a rough night. Schaub was just 4-14 for 10 yards and threw a pick late in the game that led to the Broncos game-winning drive.

John Fricke and Hugh Douglas brought up the idea that Schaub's role could be challenged, but in the end they just aren't buying that.

"I think that they would like to have one (QB battle) because of Matt Schaub and the money he's making," says Hugh. "But I don't think they're going to turn the reins of this team, in case something happens to Matt Ryan, to Kurt Benkert."

The Falcons would save some money if they did take Benkert over Schaub, but as noted by a few people, Schaub just inked a 2-year extension and his role is safe.
