Patrick said this could be Swanson’s breakout season.

“I think he’s just a very under-the-radar guy with all the star qualities that this team has with Ronald Acuña, Freddie Freeman, even Ozzie Albies, we talked a lot about as the big stars of this lineup,” Patrick said. “Dansby Swanson’s just there in the background, keeps improving after getting off to a struggled start to his career as kinda the guy with big expectations on him. I think he’s really kind of found his groove with this team. He’s just one of those guys I feel like if he could stay healthy in a shortened season he could really give the Braves a ton of value from the bottom of that lineup.”

As of Sunday morning, Swanson is tied for the lead in the National League with 13 hits this season. Swanson’s 11 RBI are the most by a Braves shortstop through eight games since the team moved to Atlanta in 1966.
