Rick and John asked Monday on The Midday Show if Kawhi Leonard is the type of player to change the process to get to Atlanta for the Hawks.

Rick called Leonard’s decision to leave the Spurs the stupidest decision ever because he wants to go play in California and leave $40 million on the table to do so. John read from an article detailing what Leonard wants and how the San Anotnio Spurs have reacted since they don’t have to trade him or help him in any way get to another team, especially in the West. John surmised that teams in the East should put packages together and present them to the Spurs for Leonard.

Rick shot down the notion that Leonard won’t be traded to the West because the Spurs have to get rid of him and hit the reset button. Rick also told John that Leonard is not a player who can resurrect a team like a LeBron James or Kevin Durant.

John feels like Leonard is better than any player coming out in the draft and would be able to help the Hawks now. John also gave some scenarios that the Hawks could offer the Spurs for Leonard including players and draft picks.

Rick told John that if the Hawks somehow got Leonard they would win 30 games. John on the other hand thinks he would help propel the Hawks to the playoffs.

John calls Leonard a sure thing where as the lottery is a crap shoot.
