Jamie Newman is officially a Georgia Bulldog.

The former Wake Forest quarterback announced his transfer via his Twitter account on Saturday.

It was seemingly an easy decision for Newman after Jake Fromm opted to forego his senior season and enter the 2020 NFL Draft.

"I'm excited to see him," ESPN/SEC analyst and former Bulldogs' quarterback D.J. Shockley said. "I'm kind of intrigued because I think this is a spot that I think Georgia needs to be. I think this kind of puts this offense into a mode of what everybody wants it to be."

Over the last couple of years, head coach Kirby Smart has been trying to get a quarterback like Newman.

Shockley said Smart tried to recruit now Ole Miss dual-threat quarterback John Rhys Plumlee and obviously had Justin Fields before he transferred to Ohio State. D'Wan Matthis is also another option for the Bulldogs who will also compete for the starting job.

"Now you get a guy like Jamie Newman who brings that dual-threat ability to this offense, and I think it's finally going to force Georgia to be the style of offense I think a lot of people want them to go to."
