Grant McAuley, 92.9 The Game’s Braves Insider, joined the Morning Show on Thursday to talk about the pieces he thinks the team needs as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches. Grant says the relief pitching would be the greatest need but said the bullpen would also benefit from another veteran starter.

“It would be helpful if you could find the right starter for the right price. And if it is a J.A. Happ or someone of that nature that you could plug into that rotation, which would bring stability and continuity. The bullpen would benefit from a better starting rotation.”

The MLB Trade Deadline is on July 31st, and while we’re speculating on what the Braves should do at the deadline, will they actually make a move? McAuley believes they will.

“I think they’re going to make a move or two, and I think that really the pitching staff in general is the area that they need to improve. The offense has enough there but the pitching staff is where I think the focus needs to be. But the big splashy moves (a la Manny Machado) that cost you the farm system is not really the business Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos is going to be in.”
