It was time for the Five Stripes preview with Mike Conti on Dukes and Bell, Mike talked about the win Saturday against the Revolution “Good solid win which came at a high price with Almiron getting hurt, doesn’t sound like it’s a major injury though, was cool to see George Bello score a goal, he played mostly mistake free soccer and I think he earned a chance to start again, and now Atlanta has depth at left back.”

Conti talked about what Greg Garza brings to the lineup “After the Chicago match, you will be on the road at Toronto and the first leg of the playoffs you’ll be on the road and I think Tata will go with a veteran like Garza, and I think Garza brings a sense of calm to the lineup.”

When asked about the rumors surrounding Miguel Almiron “I think it’s literally fake news, someone in latin America literally make a fake quote from Darren Eagles, this is what happens in the international market where the integrity of the reports aren’t very high. Darren is a master negotiator, he is Ivy league schooled, and is very calculated in his comments.”

Mike talked about the game next week against Chicago and what could be at stake “Chicago’s not very good, but they came in here for the US open cup in June and really dominated, they play the high press like the Red Bulls, but they aren’t as talented as New York. Atlanta United really wants to win the shield, and I think it’s critical in this match to not only win, but if it was ever a time to get a four nil victory, this would be it because the goal differential over the Red Bulls is now only one goal.”
