The College Football Playoff has been given to my No. 3 team in the past, and last year the committee took away a chance at a national title for the Buckeyes. Ohio State was a horrible game versus Iowa from being back in the playoffs, but instead had to settle for a Cotton Bowl win.

Positives: J.T. Barrett is gone, but in steps Dwayne Haskins, who in limited duty in 2017 threw for 565 yards and four scores, all while completing 70.2 percent of his throws. Haskins might be a better fit for Urban Meyer’s offense. J.K. Dobbins and Mike Webber will be a great one-two punch at running back after combining for over 2,000 rushing yards in 2017. The receiver corps returns the top six pass-catchers from a year ago. Nick Bosa leads a talented defense and should improve on his 7.5 sacks.

Negatives: Will Urban Meyer coach? That will be the biggest question surrounding the Buckeyes until this is resolved. The schedule is relatively tough with a “neutral site” game versus TCU in Dallas, and trips to Penn State and Michigan State.

Ohio State has the talent to win it all, but Meyer’s status, and a very tough Big 10 will make them earn it in 2018.
