Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez are taking another crack in their pursuit to buy the New York Mets, and could be partnering up with a nemesis of New York to complete the deal.

According to The New York Post, the celebrity couple have re-entered the picture and are working closely with senior bankers at JPMorgan Chase on a new bid for the team after their previous approach fell apart.

Among the potential clients A-Rod and J.Lo have spoken to is New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft and his son, Jonathan.

Per Thornton McEnery of The Post, the Krafts are not interested in buying a baseball team but are “intrigued” by A-Rod and J.Lo’s plans, which include turning Citi Field into an entertainment venue and redeveloping the surrounding area of the ballpark.

The Krafts have done something similar with Patriot Place outside Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.

A-Rod and J.Lo are putting “hundred of millions” of their own money into their bid for the franchise, which the Wilpon family is more eager to sell in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.

The Wilpons are also reportedly willing to include SNY as part of the deal, which they initially balked at doing in previous negotiations, but still want to retain at least some part of the TV network.

The reluctance to include SNY, which is a big revenue generator for the Wilpons while they operate at a loss with the Mets, is part of the reason that killed the initial A-Rod and J.Lo bid, as well as the couple’s deteriorated relationship with business partner Wayne Rothbaum.
