NBA stars confined to their homes might soon face off in one of the game’s timeless competitive formats – enjoyed by driveway heroes and rec-league players everywhere.

The league, players union and ESPN are finalizing a deal to televise a star-studded H-O-R-S-E competition featuring some of the game's "high-profile players," according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. Players would shoot at separate locations, presumably from their own homes, Woj said.

A timetable for the event is unclear, as is which players would partake, the report said.

The game is scored by matching shots. A player is saddled with a letter for each missed shot, finally losing when missing five shots to spell out "horse."

The NBA season has been suspended since March 12, after two Utah Jazz players tested positive for the coronavirus.
