Former Clemson linebacker Tanner Muse will always remember the night the Las Vegas Raiders drafted him 100th overall. His uncle might not, though.

Muse, who joined the Raiders as a third-round pick in last month’s draft following a breakout 2019 that saw him earn third-team All-American status, gave his nearly 13,000 Twitter followers a behind-the-scenes look at the moment his life changed forever. The Belmont, North Carolina native was ready when the call finally came from commissioner Roger Goodell. As for the rest of his family? Well, not so much.

When Goodell informed Muse that he’d be playing for Jon Gruden’s Raiders, the 23-year-old’s uncle was behind him, audibly snoring through the biggest call of his young life. While Uncle Muse was catching Z’s on a nearby couch, at least four dogs were in the same room, tail-wagging and leaping on furniture as unruly pooches are wont to do. At one point the camera also panned to a snoozing baby, apparently lulled to sleep by the smooth hum of Trey Wingo’s draft analysis for ESPN.

Somehow Muse kept his composure through all of it, surviving his minute-long chat with the commissioner without succumbing to any of the distractions in his peripheral. The linebacker’s family, including his newly-awake uncle, erupted after the call ended, celebrating the beginning of Muse’s NFL journey. Muse will see plenty of familiar faces upon his Vegas arrival with fellow Death Valley alums Clelin Ferrell, Trayvon Mullen, Hunter Renfrow and John Simpson all joining him in Sin City.
