The Atlanta Falcons announced they have agreed to terms with running back Todd Gurley. According to multiple reports, it's a one-year, $5 million contract.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the Los Angeles Rams released him.

Gurley will likely slide into the No. 1 running back spot after the Falcons released Devonta Freeman on Wednesday.

Is Gurley a significant upgrade to Freeman right now?

"I think so," NFL Network's Brian Baldinger told the Midday Show. "The big part of Devonta was just the concussions. You know, that hasn't been a problem with Todd Gurley."

"(Gurley)'s a bigger, stronger back," Baldinger continued. "I mean, we all love Devonta Freeman. He played with his hair on fire; we loved the way he played, but we saw diminishing skills there."

No matter if it appears Gurley regressed last year, or had a down year, offenses are still going to pay attention.

"I think you put Todd Gurley back there, I think he gets everybody's attention in the league. He's still Todd Gurley. You can say that he's a declining player, and maybe he is, but sometimes you just need a fresh start with maybe a better offensive front and maybe a little better committment to the run. I think that you can get that in Atlanta."
