Think of all the teams, all the sports being played right now in the state of Georgia. There are some top-notch teams here in the Peach State, and some elite athletes.

But who are the best of the best?

John Michaels ranked the top 10 players hoopin' it up, ballin' out, swinging for the fences or setting scoring records in the the state of Georgia right now...

  1. Julio Jones - All of the talk of missing OTAs went out the window in 2018 with 1,677 yards and eight touchdown receptions. Julio is not only THE player in the state, but he’s also the best receiver in the NFL.
  2. Josef Martinez - The reigning MLS MVP destroyed the goal record in the league a year ago while leading Atlanta United to the MLS Cup.
  3. Matt Ryan - Hate on Matty Ice all you want, but Ryan was nearly as good as his MVP year in 2016, with a great 2018. His splits of 4,924/35/7 were fantastic and if not for defensive injuries, he would’ve been in the MVP discussion.
  4. Ronald Acuna - He hit .293 with 24 home runs and 64 RBI with 16 steals in one hell of a debut. He may not be as accomplished as others on this list, but he screams multiple-time MVP in the league. The 30-30 club should be a breeze in 2019.
  5. Freddie Freeman - He hit .309, smacked 44 doubles and was a huge part of the Braves resurgence in '18. Freddie is one of the best, most steady guys in all of baseball.
  6. Deion Jones - When Deion went down, so did the Falcons season. Debo is a superstar playmaker that will be higher on this list sooner, rather than later. He has already housed three picks in his career including one in limited time in 2018.
  7. Jake Fromm - Jake has sent two 5-star quarterbacks packing because he’s that good. Had UGA's defense (in '17) or Smart’s fake punt been better, we might be talking about a national title winner. Fromm could throw for 35 TDs this year and be back in the SEC Title game.
  8. John Collins - Since returning from injury, JC has been averaging 19 and 9.5 boards. He’s greatly improved his 3-point percentage and will be an All-Star many times over. Travis Schlenk got a steal from Wake Forest.
  9. Grady Jarrett - He's about to get paid, and he deserves it. Jarrett has put himself in the upper echelon of interior D-lineman in the NFL. I think with better production around him Jarrett becomes a double-digit sack guy.
  10. Trae Young - He' having a ROY-type campaign going 17.7 with seven dimes. He must improve his shooting percentage, but as the year progresses he’s looking like the kid from OU. The Hawks get an additional lottery pick with him, so everyone saying they lost the trade needs to slow their roll.
