Atlanta Hawks beat writer for The Athletic, Chris Kirschner, joined Jon Chuckery and Randy McMichael to talk about various topics around the NBA.

Kirschner on Trae Young, “A lot of people coming into the season, especially after draft night, were disappointed that the team didn’t get Luka Doncic. But Trae has proven that he is going to be a really good player for years to come and can score from anywhere on the floor. My biggest worry with Trae coming into this season was his ability to score at the rim but he has proven he can do that. I would consider Trae’s rookie year as a big success.”

Kirschner on Taurean Prince, “He just hasn’t worked out in Coach Pierce’s system. He was on the trade block before the deadline but ultimately wasn’t moved. He could certainly be moved this off-season depending on how many picks the Hawks get or he could wind up being the sixth man off the bench. I’m just not sure exactly what his role is in Coach Pierce’s system”

Kirchner said that the Hawks will be looking to add wings, “Cam Reddish for Duke and Jarrett Culver from Texas Tech would be a great fit for what the Hawks are trying to do.”

Kirschner went on to talk about what has surprised him about Head Coach Lloyd Pierce this year and who should be the Coach of the Year in the NBA.
