This weekend in College Football was brilliant.

Exciting finishes. Great performances. Big wins and big losses all happened this weekend.

So naturally there are a lot of takes being served piping hot today by a lot of biased people. I pride myself in calling it as it is. Listen, I watch all the games. I know what I’m looking at. So with that being said. Here are my 3 biggest takeaways from a very TELLING weekend in College Football.

Take Number 1:  “Georgia revealed the truth of who they are against USC.”

If you think this loss to the Gamecocks was just an “outlier” then you might have not watched the same game on Saturday that I did.

Georgia got out coached, out played on the offensive line and had Jake Fromm at QB who did what Jake Fromm does which is sea-saw from being slightly above average to slightly below average.

Guys, I’m going to be honest. It’s starting to look like we overhyped UGA. Listen, D’andre Swift is great. Went for 113 yards and a TD yesterday. But great running backs aren’t the end-all-be-all. Georgia has a great defense, yes this is true. But when has a great defense won the Natty in the modern CFB Playoff? In 2 of the last 3 CFB Playoff National Championship games had the losing team scoring over 30 points. In today’s College Football, you have to be able to throw the ball down the field. Georgia can’t.

Here’s what Georgia is right now. A talented roster with a good defense, a good running game, an up-and-down average QB and a coaching staff that as we have seen has struggle to call good plays week-in and week out.

This is not just an indictment on the coaching staff as people want to argue, this is an indictment on the players as well.

Now, I’ll finish with this, losing Saturday to USC does not officially derail their season. But, are you really confident that Georgia can even win out now and make the SEC Title game?

Take Number 2: “LSU might be the best team in College Football."

Now, I fully understand that Alabama exists and we’ll get to see who is better in a few weeks but even if they lose a close game to Alabama I don’t know how you keep them out of the playoff. Joe Burrow is playing himself into the first round of the NFL Draft next year. The defense is a classic great SEC defense and they have two receivers in Chase and Jefferson who can go over the top. Remember when we said before the season that it was Bama, Clemson then a huge gap to Georgia? Let’s fix that right now. It’s Bama and LSU then a huge gap to the rest of the pack that includes Ohio State, Clemson, Oklahoma and Wisconsin.

Take Number 3: “Oklahoma punched their Playoff ticket this Saturday.”

Oklahoma’s 34-27, hard-fought, close win against Texas is not a bad thing. Sure, Jalen Hurts had his quote-on-quote “worst” game as a Sooner (he still threw 3 touchdowns and rushed for a 131yds and a touchdown). Guys, Texas is a good team. This is a real defense, not just the BIG12 defense we always make fun of. The Sooners are legit on offense and are good enough on defense to scare the living daylight out of anyone they will play in the playoff.

Oklahoma punched their ticket to one of the four seeds in the CFB Playoff Saturday because the only other hard game they will play is at #18 Baylor and then the BIG 12 Title game. Sooners are in. That leaves 6 teams to fight for the remaining 3 spots. Those 6 teams: Bama, Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Wisconsin and sure, I’ll throw in Georgia because they can technically win out.
