The Voice of the Michigan Wolverines, Jim Brandstatter, joined CFB Gametime to preview today’s game between the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Brandstatter on the key to success for Michigan so far this season, “The big key has been the improvement of Shea Patterson at quarterback and the offensive line. Shea (Patterson) has been everything that he was advertised to be coming out of Ole Miss.”

Brandstatter on the key the Michigan’s defense, “Everyone can run. This may be the most athletic Michigan defense I have ever seen. The 1997 group was really good but this team can run. They come out you from a lot of different angles. I liken this group to a boxer that can hit you in a number of different ways.”

Brandstatter on getting revenge against Penn State, “The defensive coordinator doesn’t go a day without thinking about what happened in Happy Valley last year. This defense is motivated big time by what happened last year.”

Brandstatter went on to talk about:

  • The depth and strong play of the Michigan secondary
  • The difficulty of the Wolverines schedule this year
  • Jim Harbaugh toning things down this season
