Does Hageman signing mean no more 'Falcons' filter?'

The Atlanta Falcons announced they signed defensive tackle Ra'Shede Hageman on Friday. He played three seasons with the Falcons before being released in 2017.

For Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael, the Hageman signing points to how the Falcons plan to handle guys in the draft. Hageman faces a two-game suspension if he makes the 53-man roster for past off-the-field issues.

"To me at least, and maybe this is incorrect, the Falcons can be willing to deal with other guys 'stuff' in the draft process," Andy said. "If Ra'Shade Hageman is able to get through the Falcon filter, why can't can't you're guy Simmons from Mississippi State get through the Falcons filter; or somebody."

Defensive end Jeffery Simmons has all the talent to be an elite player on the field but a 2016 viral video of him striking a woman has a lot of teams raising a red flag for off-the-field issues.

"He's a primetime defensive lineman," McMichael said. "He is one of the better defensive tackles in this draft...Falcons filter, I get all that. They want a certain type of guy. And maybe they look at Ra'Shede, 'we know this guy, we know this kid. We know the kind of person he is.'"
