As of right now it's a great time to be an Atlanta sports fan. The Hawks have compiled a lot of young talent, and are trending in the right direction, and the Falcons are a team with Super Bowl potential. However with both of those teams are still waiting in the wings with the Falcons in training camp, and the Hawks still in the offseason. With that being said, all eyes are on Atlanta’s two other championship caliber teams currently in the stretch runs of their respective seasons. The NL East leading Atlanta Braves have bounced back beautifully, and have earned themselves a nice cushion after starting the season 0-3. However, with the Braves losing their last two games at home to Kansas City Royals team that is tied for the 4th-worst record in all of baseball, and losing five out of their last nine games they quickly find themselves with a significantly slimmer lead in the NL East going into tonight’s game against the Phillies with only a 4.5 game lead over the Nationals. On the other hand, Atlanta United have turned things around recently winning their last two matches in league play after dropping three out of their last five matches in league play. The Five Stripes currently find themselves in second place in the east with a measuring stick match currently happening against the white hot club in LAFC, so with the Braves having six very important division games upcoming, including their game against the Phillies tonight, and Atlanta United having a huge measuring stick match against the Supporters Shield favorites LAFC who needs the win more?

Jon Chuckery posed that very same question to start his show tonight. What does Jon think? He believes the Braves need the win tonight more than Atlanta United because he says “ This is a playoff matchup.” Chuckery also says Mike Soroka, Jake Arietta, that’s a game one playoff matchup.” As far as Atlanta United’s match with LAFC goes Jon says “ You gotta beat the champs to be the champs.” Obviously, he is referring to LAFC.

At the end of the day both the Atlanta Braves and Atlanta United are in important stretch runs of their respective seasons. As mentioned earlier the Braves have two more games agasint the Phillies then three against Washington. Atlanta United has upcoming matches against LA Galaxy and NYCFC. The Braves got off to a good start and got the job done today against the Phillies with a 9-2 victory, and Atlanta United is currently trying to get complete a 4-1 comeback against LAFC as they trail 4-3.
