Some fans expected the Atlanta Falcons to pick defensive linemen in the draft this year, especially with all of the injuries the Falcons suffered this past season. But, it is no surprise to Duane Walker and other fans that the Falcons went in the opposite direction and picked two draft picks for the offensive line.

Dan Quinn exaggerated that there was a real need to protect the Falcons’ quarterback, Matt Ryan so they picked accordingly: Offensive Guard, Chris Lindstrom out of Boston College and Offensive tackle, Kaleb McGary out of Washington.

Duane Walker poses the question to the listeners: Can you see both of these newly drafted Falcon rookies starting on the right side of the offensive line? Duane says without any shadow of a doubt he does. “If your drafting two rookies on the first round, you’re not drafting them to sit on a bench- drafting to put them IMMEDIATELY in to the starting lineup,” said Duane.

For some fans this may raise concerns and maybe Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff may be thinking the same thing. Do you split them up? Or can we trust ‘fresh meat’ to put them both on the right side and protect our quarterback? One thing Duane is certain about, is that Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff are creatures of habit. Falcons are known to start their draft picks such as wide receiver Julio Jones, defensive end Vic Beasley, offensive tackle Jake Matthews, and saftey Keon O’neal.
