D&B: Julio Jones Held Out Of Practice Today

Dukes & Bell
Thursday, December 6th
Dukes and Bell open the show with the talk about the vibe around the city with the United’s MLS cup appearance on Saturday, the guys then talked about the matchup on Sunday of Matt Ryan vs Aaron Rodgers, the guys also briefly spoke about Rueben Foster’s ex-girlfriends appearance on GMA today talking about the domestic violence case.

The guys hit the headlines as we heard from Falcons HC Dan Quinn on player’s status for Sunday’s game including Julio Jones who won’t be a full participant in practice today.

Atlanta United Goal Keeper Brad Guzan joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the matchup with Portland “They’ve got very good players that could hurt you out of nothing, they can score even though they might not look a threat, their transition is very good, and when their backs are against the wall they’re very good. You wanna make sure you’re ready at all times, these guys can shoot with distance so you’ve got to be ready to face the shot.” Guzan told the guys what Portland might try to do from a strategy standpoint “When they came to Mercedes Benz stadium they were hard to play against, they had a good solid block defenders and there’s a possibility they try to do that again, but whichever way they decided to defend we will adjust and try to play to our strength.”  When asked about Josef Martinez winning the MLS MVP award “It was awesome, he deserves all the accolades that he gets this year, to top it off with the MVP award it shows how great he’s been, I think he knew something was going on but to be able to celebrate with him like that was a special moment.” Brad told the guys how special it is to be playing in the MLS Cup in Atlanta “This one is up there, to be playing in a cup final in your home city with the crowd behind us it’s going to be a special night, if not only for the fans to give the fans who have been behind us from the beginning to celebrate.”
