Atlanta Falcons beat writer for the AJC D Orlando Ledbetter joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the free agent moves the team has made, Clemson’s pro day and if the team might draft an defensive back in the NFL draft.

Ledbetter talked about the guards the team signed on Wednesday.

“Definite upgrades, no question about it.” Ledbetter said “Both guys have combined to play 135 games, they both look more like power blockers than the zone blocking scheme we thought they would look for. I still don’t think it pulls you off a lineman if there is a really really good one there at 14.”

D Orlando talked about being at the Clemson pro day.

“Lawrence and Austin Bryant said they talked to the Falcons.” Ledbetter said “Christian Wilkins said he has not talked to the Falcons or has anything set up, and Ferrell said he hasn’t talked to him yet at all. Certainly the Falcons have a history of taking Clemson guys, interesting that the Falcons haven’t talked to Wilkins yet.”

When asked if the team could draft a cornerback in the draft.

“Trayvon Mullen who is a Clemson guy, he’s a bigger guy, ran faster than DeAndre Baker, and they’ve said they don’t like Baker’s work effort.” Ledbetter said “They have to get a corner at some point because they just cut their top two corners.”

D Orlando gave the guys an update on players that had season ending injuries in 2018.

“Coach Quinn told us at the combine they aren’t expecting anyone back before training camp.” Ledbetter said “Keanu is ahead of the game, They’re being real slow with Ricardo so he doesn’t come back and tear the other one. Devonta is running, Fusco isn’t running yet because you have to let the broken ankle heal completely.
