Falcons CEO Rich McKay joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the Falcons, how pass interference replay is working and in-season trades.

When asked about the 2019 Falcons identitiy.

“I think one of the things is team identity gets established later in the season.” McKay said “What I liked in week 2 is how physical we were, I don’t know if we will give you the identity until we are four or five weeks in.”

Rich said he thinks the new rules for replay on pass interference is off to a good start.

“We’ve had new rules before, and we’ve always said there is a breaking in period.” McKay said “I do think it’s off to a pretty good start, during the preseason we saw a lot of challenges from the coaches, I think people are starting to get comfortable with what clear and obvious is. I do think it’s off to a pretty good start.”

McKay talked about the difficulties of making in-season trades.

“If you look at the last three years and say are there more, the answer is yes.” McKay said “I see it more than I saw in the past, if you’re the acquiring club you have to bring a player in and get them use to your system, and that’s not as easy to do as it is in other sports.”
